Course Goal

The purpose of this course is to develop senior, experienced tactical operators and provide them with cognitive tools to lead planning, tactical operations and assist with the program/unit management. 


Course Description

This course is designed for the seasoned tactical operator that is ready to challenge their thought process.  Honest and open dialogue using operational debriefs and after action reviews will be used to reinforce our overall objective, to provoke thinking and continued evolution of tactics and operations.  The theoretical part of the course helps the seasoned operator understand how knowledge is both critical and unique.  It equips the operator to design more efficient work models and to serve towards more intellectual problem solving.  This course will balance academics and real case briefings with practical hands-on training.  Each course will be tailored to the primary mission sets and capabilities of the clients in that specific region and can be tailored for a single hosting agency and/or their partner agencies.

  • Senior Operator / Team Leader Roles and Responsibilities

  • Developing Effective Training Plans and Managing Training for the Unit

    • Vehicle Interdictions (VI)

    • Vehicle Immediate Action Drills (VIADs)

    • Tactical Intelligence Collection ISO Tactical Operations

    • Dismounted Patrols***

      • Man-Tracking / Tactical Tracking

      • Open Country Deliberate Interdiction Operations

    • Extraordinary (XO) Deployment / CT Response

  • Rapid Response Planning Process (R2P2);

  • Integration of Aviation Assets;

    • RSTA or ISR Assets (manned and unmanned);

  • After Action Reviews and Implementing Lessons Learned


Learning Outcomes

  • Understand and apply effective leadership attributes at the unit level;

  • Comprehend the critical elements of the roles and responsibilities of the leadership positions within a tactical unit;

  • Understand how knowing tactical theory relates knowledge to action; effective problem solving within the organization;

  • Assess the effectiveness of your tactical organization in a critical yet constructive manner through the application of proven processes;

  • Understand and apply sound planning processes and effectively utilize force multipliers in support of tactical operations;


Learning Approach

The course of instruction is designed for instructor and student collaboration.  There are lessons and modules which are the foundation that will be discussed in depth as a group.  In these courses, the instructor does not take on the role of the all-knowing subject matter expert (SME) imparting knowledge to the end users.  The instructor’s role is to establish an environment geared towards higher learning and to share relevant knowledge and experiences and to guide or to provoke thoughtful discussions.  It is not the role of the student to sit passively and simply absorb information, it is the student’s role to seek out new knowledge and share relevant knowledge and experiences with the other students.  The primary learning objectives taught and discussed in the classroom will be reinforced even further in dynamic and realistic training scenarios.



Active Law Enforcement or Military and have been a tactical operator for more than 3 years with your department/agency.
